Hi! Salutations! Bonjour.
Welcome to my new endeavour, Made by Kira Koop. I’m looking forward to showing you the things I’m working on, behind the scenes photographs, and a bit of the theory behind what I make as well! Since you’re new here, and probably wondering what the deal is, I make hand-crafted ceramic jewelry.
Each piece is made over a period of three (or more!) sessions in the studio, spread over a number of weeks. I work with a variety of clay bodies, including porcelain, stoneware, terracotta, and Laguna’s B3 Brown, which is an incredible clay that turns black at its final stage. The aesthetic of the pieces I make tend toward natural tones, with geometry and texture creating visual interest.
Watch this space for updates, including the details of a market I’ll be in this coming June!
